[SETT] - Building Intimacy is live!

Hey Reader,

The day has finally come, and I'm excited to share this with the SETT community first:

Building Intimacy - A Guide to Deeper, Stronger Relationships is live! And it'll be available at a discount to the SETT community for the next 10 days.

Building Intimacy is a 6-week email course that's designed to help you develop the kind of trust, emotional safety, and intimacy you really want.

Each lesson focuses on one topic in a way that I can't do in the normal newsletter.

Here's what you can expect from the each week:

  1. The Foundations For Intimacy
  2. The Pillars of "Talking"
  3. Vulnerability - A How To Guide
  4. Constructive Conflict
  5. The Power of Repair
  6. The Strength To Persist

Each week's lesson will be 7-9 pages long, and will include reflective questions and goal setting to help you figure out how you'll apply the skills to your life, what might get in your way, and to develop solutions for anticipated obstacles.

I also want to say clearly: This course is not AI-generated. I've written it myself, and it's based on my nearly two decades of experience of training and working as a clinical psychologist with a diverse clientele all across the life span.

As I mentioned at the top, I also wanted to make this available to you, the SETT community, before I launch it to the public at large. You've taken a chance on me by signing up for the newsletter, and I want to offer you a discount as a thank you.

For the next 10 days, the price of the 6-week course will be $49 USD. After those 10 days, the price will rise to $69.

Thank you again to each of you!

Take care,

Nicholas (Nick) Hack

Hi Reader, "You can't just go out with your friends and not tell me." Have you ever said something like this to your partner, or a family member, or a close friend? Maybe the specifics are different, but the phrasing is similar: "You have to...", or "You can't just...". Or maybe the words are different, but the underlying sentiment is similar. What you're really communicating is something like "Relationships have rules and you have to follow them." *** That way of talking isn't "wrong" or...

Hey Reader, You know how some people seem to think that if they know something, then nobody else knows it? You can probably remember somebody you've met who acts like they're the fount of all knowledge. They constantly explain things to everybody around them, even if those other people clearly have the same knowledge. Well, I have the opposite issue: instead of thinking that nobody knows what I know, I tend to think that if I know something, then of course everybody else knows it too. That's...

Hey Reader, When I write to you in SETT, I usually talk about the skills and obstacles around emotional intimacy, but in my therapy practice I help people with a wide-range of issues. Three of the big topics I work with are trauma, grief, and post-punk issues. One of the reasons I try to acknowledge that intimacy requires emotional skills is that, on a daily basis, I see on how people's nervous system's prevent them from having the kind of closeness they really want. Whether you're using the...
